Six years after Ho‘okena’s GRAMMY®-nominated Cool Elevation release, Manu Boyd, Horace Dudoit, Chris Kamaka and Glen Smith are on the verge of launching their 10th recording in 23 years together. This, by many measures, is their best to-date. Nani Mau Loa – Everlasting Beauty is inspired by a new song about commitment and lasting love, but reaches much farther in expressing Ho‘okena’s commitment to the everlasting beauty of Hawai‘i nei. Ho‘okena is a rare example of long-term commitment to Hawaiian music. While raising families, advancing careers, leading communities, traveling the world and experiencing life’s many blessings, Manu, Horace, Glen and Chris remain as a staple in Hawaiian contemporary music bridging the 20th and 21st centuries while delving into their history, heritage and mana that goes back much, much further.
