TAIMANE: Her name means “diamond” in Samoan and perfectly reflects the different facets of her nature. Whether delicately finger-picking through Bach or radically ripping through Led Zeppelin, Taimane has the ability to morph genres – from classical to rock to flamenco – and stretch her instrument far beyond the familiar melodies of Hawai`i, where she grew up.
Among Taimane’s ‘ukulele teachers turned admirers are Roy Sakuma and Jake Shimabukuro. When Don Ho caught wind of the talented teen, he invited her to join him as part of his venerable variety show at the Waikiki Beachcomber, further fueling Taimane’s desire to perform for and connect with audiences.
In addition to performing her own distinctive versions of well-known pieces, Taimane weaves in original compositions that are as far ranging as her musical tastes. Her breakout CD, ‘Ukulele Dance features Bach’s “Tocatta,” Lalo Schifrin’s “Mission Impossible Theme,” and pieces she wrote for the planet Neptune and the Moon, as part of her series on the solar system.
With the fierceness of a rocker, the grace of a dancer, and the pageantry of a performance artist, Taimane and her music are wowing ever-larger audiences. She lights up rooms wherever she goes, sparkling like the diamond that she is. Learn More
Jake Shimabukuro's highly anticipated follow up to his last record, 2011's "Peace Love Ukulele", which topped Billboard's World Albums chart. Shimabukuro describes recording the album as a "truly magical experience for me. I'm just excited." All the tracks on the album (a mix of original songs, as well as covers) were played and recorded live. "There were absolutely no overdubs," notes Shimabukuro. "Bringing all these people together, and everyone brings their own experience, their own background, their own interpretation, their own spirit, and love and passion for music."
Produced by Alan Parsons, assistant engineer of the Beatles "Abbey Road" and Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of The Moon." Orchestration for the CD was done by Kip Winger, and it's a real treat. The album will not only take Jake to the next level, but is poised to redefine the Ukulele itself. Jake's version of "Over The Rainbow" is completely "over the top" and his cover version of "Rolling In The Deep" is incredible.
A close friendship, a beloved companion, and to be in a bond of love are all qualities associated with “PILIALOHA” the word, and “PILIALOHA” the album! Many of the compositions can certainly be considered love songs conveying affection, devotion and fondness.
New mele written by kumu hula ‘Iliahi Paredes includes Ku’u Lei Hiwahiwa, Aia Ka La’i i Ka’uiki and my favorite, Sila Pa’a Ke Aloha all lovingly written to honor a special person. My Father’s Granddaughter came at a turning point in my life. During the process of recording this album my father passed into his next journey. Lloyd Gilliom, my father, grew up on the road with my Tutu Jennie. She would instill in him three of life’s most important qualities that he later would pass on to me: Humility, Kindness and Love. As I tour the world sharing Hawaiian music, I am thankful that my daughter Madeline was able to spend time with my parents who became instrumental in helping me raise her in today’s world. I would often witness my father teaching Madeline the same life lessons he taught me. Never a dull moment in the Gilliom `Ohana. Beautiful how the circle of life works.
I have always been in a 50th state of mind. This is my area code. (808) Through the years my musical passion and focus has always been about elevating the Contemporary Imagery of Hawaiis multi-cultural music...

Following the selection as Group of the Year at the 2011 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, the KUmZ duo continues to strive forward in perpetuating the Hawaiian culture through music and dance with their fourth release.
The phrase "You Should Know By Now" comes from the song "Do I Love You?" but it first became familiar to them as their Kumu Robert Cazimero would always say it and write it in notes and cards. The phrase has since stuck with KUmZ as a beautiful way to say I love you to someone and to express that sentiment of love.
The CD is filled with new compositions that tell stories of their haumana, places they have visited, and experiences they have shared together. The CD also features mele that were written by the haumana of Halau I Ka Wekiu.Learn More

From the artist:
`Ā — to sparkle like a gem……
”`Ā” means to sparkle, like a gem. Iʻm not gonna lie…I love the bling. It makes me sing! Thatʻs not why I named this project “`Ā”. For my first recording endeavor, I wanted a name that would catch a few eyes and turn a few heads, hoping to lure a few ears. “`Ē” encompassed all of my feelings and emotions and so it was destiny. It truly was strange, weird and wonderful to say the least.Learn More
