Award-winning documentarian and musician Eddie Kamae brings you another powerful story of Hawai`i.
Eddie Kamae is a native Hawaiian singer, `ukulele virtuoso, composer and co-founder of the legendary Sons of Hawai`i music group. In 1986, he launched The Hawaiian Legacy Series in the belief that Hawaiian voices, language, music and cultural wisdom, preserved on film, would be an enriching experience for everyone.
This award-winning, one-hour documentary pays tribute to the untamed spirit of a colorful and controversial Hawaiian man. Known throughout the islands and descended from a line of warrior chiefs, Luther Makekau was part philospher and part outlaw, a chanter and a singer, a fighter and a lover, a cattle rustler, a rebel and a poet.
Born on Maui in 1890, during the reign of King Kala-kaua, he lived nearly a hundred years, shaped by a century of turbulent cultural change.
This rare 12-track collection is the opportunity to experience Kaumakaiwa Kanaka‘ole, the voice of Hawai‘i’s new generation. With this album, Kanaka‘ole—a three-time Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner—finds himself setting the pace, raising the bar and pushing the standards—yet again—challenging not only himself but his contemporaries as well. Accompanied by a passionate, unmatched love of his culture and the power that lies within his lineage, Kanaka‘ole is blazing a new trail in the 21st century while paying homage to those who have come before him, a theme that resonates with this, his third album.Learn More

Artists from Hawai‘i have been making their mark on the world music scene for decades. Keola Beamer, with a career that spans more than 30 years, has done just that. As a world-renowned slack key guitarist, he has certainly earned his place as one of only a handful of true “Masters” in the world.
Raiatea Helm has risen to the TOP of the industry at such a young age. Winner of every major music award in the islands, this Billboard World Chart recording artist grows with every CD and never ceases to amaze us.
TAIMANE: Her name means “diamond” in Samoan and perfectly reflects the different facets of her nature. Whether delicately finger-picking through Bach or radically ripping through Led Zeppelin, Taimane has the ability to morph genres – from classical to rock to flamenco – and stretch her instrument far beyond the familiar melodies of Hawai`i, where she grew up.
Among Taimane’s ‘ukulele teachers turned admirers are Roy Sakuma and Jake Shimabukuro. When Don Ho caught wind of the talented teen, he invited her to join him as part of his venerable variety show at the Waikiki Beachcomber, further fueling Taimane’s desire to perform for and connect with audiences.
In addition to performing her own distinctive versions of well-known pieces, Taimane weaves in original compositions that are as far ranging as her musical tastes. Her breakout CD, ‘Ukulele Dance features Bach’s “Tocatta,” Lalo Schifrin’s “Mission Impossible Theme,” and pieces she wrote for the planet Neptune and the Moon, as part of her series on the solar system.
With the fierceness of a rocker, the grace of a dancer, and the pageantry of a performance artist, Taimane and her music are wowing ever-larger audiences. She lights up rooms wherever she goes, sparkling like the diamond that she is. Learn More
