Hula is a huge part of who I am. I dance hula; I study hula; I teach hula. I sing so people can express the music in this important form of dance that defines my culture. Hula extends the meaning of that music, tells its story physically and through the heart of its people.
Hula and Hula 2 have been labors of love. I was and continue to be humbled by their success inside the hula and Hawaiian music community; by the visitor to these lands and to fans of Hawaiian music around the world. I take this opportunity to thank you for your support, for your appreciation of the music and the dance.Learn More

Award-winning documentarian and musician Eddie Kamae brings you another powerful story of Hawai`i.
Eddie Kamae is a native Hawaiian singer, `ukulele virtuoso, composer and co-founder of the legendary Sons of Hawai`i music group. In 1986, he launched The Hawaiian Legacy Series in the belief that Hawaiian voices, language, music and cultural wisdom, preserved on film, would be an enriching experience for everyone.
This award-winning, one-hour documentary pays tribute to the untamed spirit of a colorful and controversial Hawaiian man. Known throughout the islands and descended from a line of warrior chiefs, Luther Makekau was part philospher and part outlaw, a chanter and a singer, a fighter and a lover, a cattle rustler, a rebel and a poet.
Born on Maui in 1890, during the reign of King Kala-kaua, he lived nearly a hundred years, shaped by a century of turbulent cultural change.
"All visitors ashore!""¦ was the familiar call from the ports of Tahiti, New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa and our beloved Hawai`i in the 1950s. All who stepped foot on shore fell in love with the mystique and the romance of these magical islands including two distinguished American composers, Alfred Newman and Ken Darby. Combined, these two brilliant men have composed for such award-winning films as The King and I, Wuthering Heights and How the West Was Won. After experiencing the islands, and working with similar arrangements on films South Pacific and Bird of Paradise, they found it impossible to put down their conductor batons and ignore the wondrous and alluring sights and sounds of Hawai`i. In 1960, they produced for Capitol Records, this album, Ports of Paradise, calling it "a culmination and most definitive expression of the enchantment which (they) have found in the moods, the repose, the mystery of those far-off places."Learn More
