Eia...here she is. And here she has led us. Like the fabled Pied Piper, Natalie Ai Kamauu sings and we follow. Every note a stepping stone, every lyric leading us here. Eia...an anthology.
`E, `I, and `A are trail markers of her musical expedition which have taken Hawaiian music lovers to new heights, only to fall for her fresh and lilting style. Here, a collection of the songs she penned along the way. Including some of her favorites and three new songs as well. For Natalie it will always be about the journey, so come. Hear her. She will take you there.
The CD is titled 'Io, short for 'Iolani, the name of the Hawaiian hawk. I use the hawk as a metaphor for my Grandmother who passed away recently. My Grandfather passed away when my Father was but 10 years old. Thus, my Grandmother had to raise 9 children by herself. She must've done a great job, for in 1964 she was honored as "Mother of the Year". Like the hawk, I have an imagery of my Grandmother flying up high, looking down and protecting those she love. This CD is dedicated to my mentor, my teacher, my Grandma."
