Despite a touch of grey and a mountain of bragging rights, the Cazimeros remain youthful, humble ambassadors to the spirit of aloha . . . must be their destiny.
It's The Brothers Cazimero . . . need I say more? Celebrated and in play all over the world for over 30 years, their music is part and parcel of the modern Hawaiian identity. Grammy nominated for Best Hawaiian Music Album for their 2004 Some Call It Aloha... Don't Tell, they are not the types to rest on their laurels. Caz fans . . . can now add one more to their collection. The bros newly released CD, Destiny,hit the streets May 20) and the title couldn't be more fitting.

Orson Wells became known in the last years of his life for commercials about selling no wine "before its time." Pete Seeger, borrowing from the Book of Ecclesiastes, wrote that "to everything there is a season." Robert Cazimero, considering the Brothers Cazimero's first album in four years, says simply, "It's the right time, but then the other answer would be, 'It's always the right time.'"
"Destiny," the long-awaited follow-up to 2004's "Some Call It Aloha ... Don't Tell," which was nominated for a Grammy Award, will be in stores tomorrow.

HARA 2008 LIFETIME ACHEIVEMENT AWARD

It was deja vu for Robert, left, and Roland Cazimero at the Hawai'i Academy of Recording Arts' 2008 Lifetime Achievement Awards Luncheon on March 15 at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. The brothers, headliners at the Royal from 1982 to 1994, became the seventh group to receive HARA's recognition for career accomplishments -- in their case, first as members of Sunday Manoa in the early 1970s and then as the Brothers Cazimero. Robert thanked Peter Moon, founder of Sunday Manoa, for helping them "step out of the box" of being backing musicians and added that the best thing about being back at the Royal was seeing some of the old-time staff.
