After Robert's triumphant "Hula Is" show at the Hawaii Theatre on August 26th, here are a few thoughts from the Kumu about what Hula is to him....
|
hula is... thoughtful, jovial, fun-loving, game changing... hula is... gentle laughter bursting to guffaws crashing in tears... hula is... colors sweeping the air like falling confetti and infectious smiles know no boundaries... hula is... a captured room, swaying music and hearts finding solitude in old remembrances... hula is... girls swimming in blue white oceans with flowing trains, scented blossoms and abandoned euphoria... hula is... men incognito writing holidays on the air and lights playing musical chairs in the shadows... hula is... touching hearts and holding hands, one by one, in gratitude for doing, living, loving what we do... we of the DANCE kind... we of the HULA kind... we of the LIFE kind... may the force always be with us...

We have been very excited about IZ's recent success in Europe, specifically in Germany where it all started. This past week, Germany hosted their ECHO Awards which is their equivalent to our Grammys. Our leader and CEO Jon de Mello flew to berlin to accept IZ's award for "Hit Song of the Year" for "Over the Rainbow" and even in his busy schedule took the time to send us some of his behind the scenes photos along with a link for his and the Kamakawiwo'ole family's acceptance speech.
Mahalo to ECHO, B1 Recordings and all of IZ's fans in Germany and across the world!
