Raiatea Helm honored with “Fellowship in Music”

Raiatea Helm has been awarded the first ever Fellowship in Music honor by the Native Arts & Cultures Foundation! This honor acknowledges those who promote the revitalization, appreciation, and perpetuation of Native arts and cultures in all sectors of society through philanthropy and partnership.

Pictured: Raiatea visited Kailua Elementary (right) and Salt Lake Elementary (below) last month in to promote literacy and support their Ukulele Music Program Initiative and Fundraiser (which the Raiatea Helm Music Foundation sponsors.)

MS. RAIATEA HELM AWARDED A “FELLOWSHIP IN MUSIC” FROM THE NATIVE ARTS & CULTURES FOUNDATION

First Hawaiian Music Artist Awarded This Prestigious Honor.
HONOLULU – (December 6, 2011) – International Hawaiian music recording artist, Ms. Raiatea Helm, is the first ever recipient of a Native Arts & Cultures Foundation “Fellowship in Music.” The NACF is an organization that reaches across the 48 contiguous states, including Alaska and Hawaii, to promote the revitalization, appreciation, and perpetuation of Native arts and cultures in all sectors of society through philanthropy and partnership. By selecting Ms. Raiatea Helm as their 2011-2112 Music Fellow, the NACF recognizes her body of work of traditional Hawaiian music as a cultural art form worthy of their support and acknowledgement.  At the young age of 27 years, Raiatea Helm was selected among an extremely competitive group of talented music artists from all over the country.  This honor not only acknowledges her exceptional talent as a vocalist but also recognizes the value of traditional Hawaiian music and its importance to the indigenous Hawaiian culture.

This national recognition comes on the heels of the release of her sixth album, “Sea of Love.” (raiateahelm.com)  Helm continues to be thankful for the support of all of her fans as she shares her passion for traditional Hawaiian music with the world.
