Internet Radio Fairness Act (IRFA) Doesn’t Pass

The “Internet Radio Fairness Act” was defeated by Congress, meaning performers, songwriters and studio professionals will still be treated fairly. The IRFA sought to reduce the royalties that Internet Radio operators pay to owners of the sound recordings.

The Brothers Cazimero Receive the David Malo Award

On November 8th, The Brothers Cazimero was honored with the David Malo Award, presented by the Rotary Club of West Honolulu!

Given each year, The David Malo Award recognizes an individual of Hawaiian ancestry whose accomplishments and life have portrayed the idea of high achievement in such fields as art, music, dance, education, science, community service, government, religion, business, or sport.

Taimane’s Recent Trip to Alaska

Taimane just returned from her first performance in Alaska at the University in Anchorage. It was her first time sledding and, oh yeah, the concert was sold out….standing room only!

Taimane is back in Hawaii now, and you can catch a clip of her talking about her career and performing a song from her latest CD, `Ukulele Dance, on KHON2.

Gamiao’s Got Game

Virtuoso Kalei Gamiao releases his second CD this week. Thank goodness he was able to find life after baseball with the ukulele.

He’s amon the rising generation of talented musicians in the Islands. In some corners of this paradise and in places beyond its shorelines, admirers are even beginning to refer to him as a virtuoso of sorts – and this designation comes at the tender age of 24.
